Green Noise
Posted by Mike on 6/2/2011 to News

Designer Hung-Uei Jou has decided to make something good out of noise. He has created a device aptly called Green Noise. Green Noise is able to capture, identify and convert sound energy to electricity which can be used to power lights and other relatively small or low-wattage facilities. One of the places that suffers due to the decibels is the airport runway. Aircrafts really make some mean sounds, and the question is, should we let the expended energy go waste? Nope, we should not and therefore designer Hung-Uei Jou has designed the Green Noise, a device that traps & converts the sound energy to electricity for the runway lights. It features a conical speaker-form to endure the elements and the modular structure stands on a tripod base for easy maintenance.

As mentioned, Green Noise is only capable of powering low-wattage appliances and equipment as of now but I'm pretty sure further developments will allow it to power bigger and "heavier" electronic appliances like your printer. Imagine the huge contribution you can make to the environment and the great savings you can get if you use Green Noise with compatible earth friendly toner & drum cartridges.
